We do not sell renewable energy systems. We compare them.
YourWatts is an independent comparison platform. We do not install renewable energy systems, sell equipment, or receive commissions from manufacturers for rankings. Some product and installer links are affiliate links — we receive a referral fee if you proceed, but this does not affect where a product appears in our rankings.
Data Sources
- Product specifications — solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, inverters, and heat pumps sourced from current manufacturer datasheets. We note the last-verified date on every product page.
- Prices — indicative market estimates based on publicly available installer quotes and wholesale pricing where disclosed. Actual prices vary significantly by country and installer.
- Tier ratings — Bloomberg NEF bankability tier for solar panel manufacturers. Tier 1 = financially bankable, not a direct quality guarantee.
- Certification — we verify SASO (Saudi Arabia), ESMA and DEWA approval (UAE), and equivalent national conformity marks where relevant before listing a product as available in a given market.
- Incentive data — sourced from DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, EWA, MEW, Kahramaa, SEC, REPDO/K.A.CARE and other national energy authorities across GCC countries. Reviewed quarterly.
Scoring Criteria
Our "Best for X" badges are assigned based on objective data:
- Highest Efficiency: Highest published efficiency percentage under STC conditions
- Best Value: Lowest price per watt among Tier 1 panels with ≥20% efficiency
- Best Warranty: Longest linear power warranty with ≥90% at year 25
- Best Off-Grid: Largest usable capacity with LFP chemistry and ≥95% round-trip efficiency
- Best for GCC heat: Lowest temperature coefficient (closest to 0%/°C) among Tier 1 panels
Calculator Methodology
- Annual production = system kW × peak sun hours (country-specific data from Masdar/K.A.CARE/MESIA) × 365 × 0.78 performance ratio
- Performance ratio of 0.78 accounts for inverter losses, wiring losses, higher temperature derating in Gulf heat, and dust/sandstorm soiling
- Degradation: 0.5%/year (industry standard; some premium panels perform better)
- COâ‚‚ offset: country-specific grid emission factors (IRENA country data for UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait)
- Tree equivalence: 21 kg COâ‚‚ absorption per tree per year (estimated global average)
Update Cadence
- Product specifications: reviewed when manufacturers release updated datasheets
- Pricing: reviewed monthly
- Incentive data: reviewed quarterly — GCC renewable programs evolve quickly under Vision 2030 and UAE Energy Strategy 2050
Limitations & Disclaimers
All content on YourWatts is informational and should not be used as the sole basis for purchasing decisions. Renewable energy system performance depends on local weather, site conditions, installation quality, and equipment selection. In the GCC, rooftop solar typically requires authorisation from your distribution company (DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, Kahramaa, SEC, etc.) and installation by an enrolled contractor. Obtain quotes from qualified installers before purchasing.
