How it works

Your solar array produces kWh during the day. Self-consumption takes priority — what you use at home is the most valuable kWh.
Step 2
Route surplus
What you don't use is routed by the inverter / energy manager to the next-best paying channel: battery arbitrage, mining, V2H, thermal, feed-in, etc.
Step 3
Earn € back
Each channel returns € to the household. Stacking 3 – 5 channels typically delivers 4–6× the income of feed-in-only.
Frequently asked
Does each kWh get sold twice across these channels?
No. Each kWh is routed to exactly one buyer in sequence — self-consumption first, then the next-best paying channel (battery arbitrage, BTC mining, V2H, thermal storage, feed-in, etc.). The rule is one kWh, sold once.
Why is cooling load the dominant driver in GCC self-consumption?
Air-conditioning typically accounts for 50–70% of summer household consumption in Gulf states. Solar production aligns with cooling demand almost perfectly — high sun hours coincide with peak AC load. This makes self-consumption the highest-value channel before any monetization stack kicks in.
How do GCC subsidies affect monetization economics?
Subsidized retail rates in Saudi Arabia (SEC), Qatar (Kahramaa), and Kuwait (MEW) keep grid power cheap, narrowing the margin on arbitrage and feed-in. UAE (DEWA Shams Dubai, ADDC) and Oman (Sahim) offer net-metering at near-retail and have the most attractive monetization economics in the region.
Is BTC mining surplus solar actually profitable in the Gulf in 2026?
At hashprice $55–$70 and a low-power ASIC (BitAxe, Apollo, Antminer S21 Hyd at low-watt mode), surplus mining returns $0.06–$0.12/kWh — usually better than the avoided-cost of low subsidized grid rates, but check local regulation: crypto mining tax and legal treatment varies across SA, UAE, BH, KW, OM, QA.
Does the calculator account for panel degradation and electricity inflation?
Yes. The 25-year NPV chart applies 0.5% annual panel degradation and 3% annual electricity-price inflation, discounted at 5%. LFP batteries are modelled at 6,000 cycles to 80% State of Health. Subsidized-rate markets may want to lower the inflation assumption.
